Rain Shadow Meats // Pioneer Square // American // Lunch // $$
404 Occidental Ave South, Seattle, WA 98104
A full-service butchery, Rain Shadow Meats is serious about serving up a local, top-notch product. They’re passionate about working with local farmers, and you can learn more about exactly where they source their meat from right here. We visited their Pioneer Square location (there’s another spot in Capitol Hill in the Melrose Market) where they have a custom curing room, a huge selection of meats for purchase, and some great dine-in options as well!

How easy would it be to create paleo options with substitutions? Examples?
None of the 10+ sandwich options are very paleo-friendly… so not very easy.
How accommodating is the staff? Are they knowledgeable about the paleo diet?
The staff is cheerful and helpful. We asked for the cheese and dressing on the side, and they happily obliged.
How satisfied were you with the meal?
Since we got the dressing on the side, the salad was of course a bit dry. However, the charcuterie is DELICIOUS. There are lots of options and we tried several. They’re all flavorful, delicious, high quality. If you’re ok with eating mostly meat for a meal, then you’ll be well taken care of here
Would you recommend this restaurant to a paleo friend? Why or why not?
Most of the menu is comprised of sandwiches.
Could you eat here enjoyably without telling anyone you’re paleo? (Not that you’d want to!)
Yes, and in fact we did!
